Diesel Emissions Standards Challenge

All diesel engines produced starting January 1, 2007 must comply with the new regulations that require the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and hydrocarbons (HC) by 50% and particulate matter (PM) by 90+% over the current 2004 emission standards. Emissions must be reduced in all types of operation, including stop-and-go situations. All diesel engine manufacturers will have to meet these stringent emissions standards, resulting in additional hardware, software and ultimately, higher costs.
